President's Message - March 2020 (March Chapter Meeting Canceled)

Hello ASHRAE Northeast Community,

As a precautionary measure, The March Chapter Meeting that was originally scheduled to be held March 24th, 2020 is being canceled. We apologize for any inconveniences. Amidst concerns involving the Covid-19 Virus, we felt that it was in the best interest of our members to take a precautionary approach and limit unnecessary gatherings for the time being. Thank you in advance for your understanding. For anyone that had already registered and paid, we will be issuing refunds for this meeting (or credits to attend a future meeting).

Since this meeting was originally intended to be “Life Member Night,” please note that we plan to reschedule the “Life Member” theme for another meeting this spring. Please stay tuned! We will also be working with our scheduled presenter to try to find a future meeting for the topic “Smoke Control Overview-Design Considerations & Fire Alarm System Integration“ as presented by Theodore Firnstein.

I encourage everyone to do their part to stay safe by following the recommendations of the CDC. A link to the CDC recommendations is provided below.

For Those Interested, ASHRAE has a relevant Article entitled “ASHRAE Position Document on Airborne Infectious Diseases” that was approved: January 19, 2014 and expires August 5, 2020.  The link is below for those whom would like to read it.

ASHRAE society also has a technical resources page on their website that has HVAC relevant information concerning this topic as well:

Sending best wishes to everyone in the ASHRAE Northeast Community, and wishing everyone a Happy Pi Day on 3/14/2020!

Sincerely,

Kevin Houghtaling
