J. David Houle

David Houle was born and raised in Schenectady, NY where he attended Linton HS.  After High School he went into the plumbing trades and worked for various plumbing contractors in the New Jersey area. Around 1995 he returned to the Capital Region and started working for Crisafulli Brothers doing hydronic and HVAC work.  He started HVCC night school and after a semester attended full time in the Engineering Science program. He transferred to RPI and graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 2003.  In 2004 Dave was employed by EME Group as an Energy Engineer and then on to doing Commissioning and Design work.

David was introduced to HVAC while employed by Crisafulli Brothers.  What he enjoys most about HVAC is that everything is different and unique with daily challenges.

David was introduced to ASHRAE while working at EME Group in 2005.  ASHRAE was the place to go for information and related programs.  It was also a place to visit with all the people in the HVAC community.

David has served the Northeast Chapter of ASHRAE as the Secretary, Treasurer, President Elect and finally as President of the Chapter in 2016-2017.

As for future ASHRAE involvement, Dave would be open to working for Region I or in Society.

Dave would like to be remembered as someone who worked for the Chapter to keep it moving ahead.  During his tenure and with his support, the website was totally reconstructed to better serve the membership.

Dave is married and has two dogs.  He enjoys volleyball, hiking in the Adirondacks and working on cars.

We wish him well in his career and with ASHRAE.
