Hello ASHRAE Northeast Chapter,
Winter is coming to an end and spring is soon to be here! What better way to welcome the pending Vernal Equinox than to spend the last day of Winter with ASHRAE! Join ASHRAE’s Northeast Chapter Tuesday, March 19th at the Italian American Community Center. Our lunch meeting’s registration will begin at 11:30 am, with buffet style lunch opening @ 11:45 am, immediately followed by our presentation.
With the changing of seasons comes changes in temperature… While this month’s presentation topic does not focus on climate, it does look at the effects of temperature changes within plumbing systems. This Month “Thermal Expansion Compensation,” will be presented by Chris Wolak. The purpose of this course is to provide each participant with the knowledge and skills needed to explain how and why pipes expand due to thermal changes, how to calculate the amount of thermal expansion and provide information on the various methods used to compensate for this movement.
Mr. Wolak has numerous years of experience as an Engineer at Victaulic. He has spent the past five years in product development and product support. Chris specializes in HVAC systems, specifically hydronic balancing. He has a broad background and understanding in valve design, hydronic balancing, steam system design, industrial process cooling, and building control systems. He has 8 total years of experience – he has been a Project Engineer and an Engineering Specialist at Victaulic since 2010. He holds a Bachelors of Science, 2010 from the Rochester Institute of Technology in Mechanical Engineering Technology, and he is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE).
